Holiday time has arrived! Another year full of adventures, achievements and fun at Draycott Primary! The children have thoroughly enjoyed sharing their successes throughout the year. We are sure you’ll agree that the children have worked incredibly hard and now it’s time to look forward to a well deserved break.

‘I Love Derbyshire’ Family Open Afternoon
Our whole school ‘I Love Derbyshire’ adventure was a great way to celebrate the end of term. The Year 6 children came up with great ideas for their Enterprise and managed to raise £200! A huge well done! Thank you for your support, it was lovely to see so many family members.

A huge thank you to our wonderful PTA who have dedicated so much of their time to support our school. Please see the PTA newsletter for details of our current project.

100% Attendance
We had 15 children with 100% attendance this year and we celebrated this during our assembly on Thursday. Well done to all of you!

Good Bye Year 6!
All the Year 6 children celebrated the end of their primary years at Draycott with their families at their graduation last week. They put on a wonderful show of happy and funny memories with some great singing. Their Oscar ceremony was fantastic! We were entertained by their humour and enthusiasm (as always). You should all be so proud of everything you have achieved; you are more than ready for the next stage in life. Everyone at Draycott wishes you good luck for the future!

We would like to say goodbye to Mrs Melia after 14 years working at Draycott Primary School. We wish her well on new adventures ahead. Thank you for all your hard work and commitment. We are sure you will take away many lovely memories from Draycott Primary!

We would also like to say farewell to Mrs Marston. The children have appreciated your enthusiasm and commitment in all you do, and love it when you dress up! Your support through the 2 years you have been with us has been appreciated by everyone! All the best for the future.

A warm welcome to Miss Beech who will be joining us from September in Green class. The children have thoroughly enjoyed meeting her during our transition afternoons. We very much look forward to Miss Beech joining our team!

A Big Thank You To All Our Volunteers!
Thank you so much to all our wonderful school volunteers. You have provided extra opportunities for the children to read as well as being a great help in class. It is lovely to work with such an enthusiastic and supportive community.

School Council
Thank you to our wonderful School Council for another fantastic year! They have been involved in important decision making through the year for all our children! We have new and exciting projects in the year ahead and very much look forward to working with new members of our School Council.

Digital Leaders
What a successful year for our Digital Leaders. They have worked hard supporting our anti-bullying initiative in school, introducing our new worry box. Your assemblies have been brilliant! The children have also entered several competitions, designing a fridge magnet was won by one of our leaders, which you will have already received. Our Digital Leaders will continue to work as a team with additional members joining next year. A huge thank you for all your time and dedication.

PE House T-shirts
We have purchased a new coloured house t-shirt for all the children. These will given out on their return to school in September. We are launching our houses in Setember. We have put siblings in the same house, this will help you when supporting future events and I’m sure discussions at the dinner table! If you need a replacement t-shirt in the future (hopefully not for a while) we will have a small stock in school.

Plastic Bottle Collection
Thank you for all your plastic bottles, the collection is going really well – we are about half way! Please continue to collect your bottles over the summer, I’m sure you will get through many in the warm weather.

Safeguarding is given the highest priority at Draycott. There may be times when adults are concerned about children in the community. If so, then you can contact Derbyshire County Council’s Child Protection department on 01629 533190 or the NSPCC on 0808 800 5000. Please don’t ignore concerns; child protection is everyone’s responsibility.
